What we collect
- What you type in your conversation with our AI.
- Notes our AI makes from it: your line of work and role in your own words, your rough region (a state or metro area, never finer), team size, hours, tools, what's hardest and what's changing, your question for others, and a short summary of your story.
- Your email, if you sign up, and whether and how you confirmed your work.
- A random id in a cookie, so your conversation stays yours, and a sign-in cookie if you sign up.
- A one-way scrambled version of your network address (never the address itself), to limit abuse.
- Your answers to fixed questions, and whether you found a link useful.
We don't ask for your name, your employer, your phone number or your address. If you mention them, we leave them out of the notes, summaries and anything shown to others.
How we use it
- To run the conversation and give you something back each time.
- To find people in the same spot as you, and people in other jobs who face something close, and to show them on your map.
- To put your question to others, and to reach out to groups where people like you gather.
- To produce pooled, anonymous findings, which may be shared with organizations interested in your field.
- To keep Shoalyard safe and its costs in check.
Who sees what
- Your full conversation: you, and Shoalyard's team (to keep the service safe and working).
- Others: only things that can't identify you, such as anonymous summaries, counts and quotes without your name. Counts and comparisons only appear when enough people are in them.
- We never sell your personal information, and we never share your name, employer or email.
Services we use
A few companies process data for us, only to run Shoalyard:
- Anthropic, for the AI that holds the conversation and writes the notes.
- Vercel, which hosts the site, and its AI Gateway with Voyage AI, which turn situations into numbers so similar ones can be found.
- Neon, which hosts our database.
- Resend, which sends sign-in emails.
Keeping and deleting
We keep your story until you delete it. You can delete it at any time from your map; we then delete the conversation and everything that could identify you, and keep only anonymous counts (for example, that a conversation happened). To ask us to delete anything else, or to see what we hold about you, write to auth@quiver.fyi.
Changes and contact
If we change this page in a way that matters, we'll say so on the site, and by email if you've signed up. Shoalyard is run by Quiver Gearworks, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company. Questions: auth@quiver.fyi.
